This project's goal is to understand the possible molecular mechanisms of Plasmodium falciparum, the causative agent of malaria, gametocytogenesis, which can be useful for future anti-malarial interventions. Gene deletion parasites are generated using CRISPR/Cas-9 mediated transgenesis to investigate the function of genes involved in this process.
