Can Crickets Consume Chicken or Cow Excrement?

During this project it was investigated if crickets possess the ability to consume animal waste and what nutrition it would offer them. The goal was to find a new alternative feeding method that was both cost effective and environmentally sustainable. Chicken excrement mixed with bedding, pure chicken excrement, and then cow manure were fed to three different cricket age groups over a 19 day period with population numbers being recorded. Results showed that crickets were not able to be fed a diet of either chicken or cow excrement.
